Our Objectives
- To help ELT teachers and English Language Professionals pool their resources, share responsibilities & ideas, identify the problems they face in teaching and learning in their individual classrooms/ institutions, and search for the solutions through brainstorming and sharing experiences in workshops/ seminars/ conferences and distributing responsibilities.
- To organize in-service training/ workshops/ conferences for English teachers/ professionals annually on specific problem areas identified by the teachers.
- To break down the isolation that English Language Teachers/ Professionals experience both in their classrooms and in their institutional settings.
- To network with other groups/partners both locally and internationally.
Our Programs
What We Do
We conduct virtual English Language Fellow sessions for teachers of English since 2020 to date. The program empowers teachers and learners with the right tools, in a conducive setup that accommodates diversity and with content that meets the 21st Century skills. This program is run primarily for purposes of contributing towards the improvement of English language teaching and learning in Kenya, through open, interactive, insightful and engaging discussions. These sessions are held every two months and cover a range of topics including lesson planning, classroom management, technology integration, and student assessment. The African Lake Zone English Language Consortium (ALZELC) Conference is a Project carried out annually. ALZELC aims to bring together English language educators from across the Lake Zone region of Africa, for a transformative and enriching conference experience. This project provides a platform for sharing innovative teaching practices, conducting research, and fostering collaboration among educators in the region.
